Origin Live turntables and tonearms

Origin Live is a specialist turntable and tonearm manufacturer located in Southampton, UK. Founded in 1986 by audio enthusiast Mark Baker, they started building hi-fi products in a garage. Mark’s ear for a natural sound quality and extensive engineering experience as a naval architect proved to be highly valuable to designing audio products. This is now a multi-generational family run business.

In the last 30 years, Origin Live has grown to become a respected British audio products manufacturer with its own factory, running modern CNC machines and employing highly-trained staff and interns. The company exports up to 80% of its products to over 40+ countries around the world and enjoys a growing reputation for outstanding performance.

Initially starting with cables and isolation platforms, the company moved into upgrading the arms of Rega turntables in 1991 and the company growth has been significant since then. Over the years they have developed many new turntables and tonearms, along with amplifiers, loudspeakers and cables. This gives them an insight that few other manufacturers of this size have, and translates into products that are system friendly.

Currently they are focussed on turntable and tonearm manufacture, along with the associated cables. Their turntable designs are very distinctive and stylish, all non-suspended concepts, with the technology majoring on stiffness and rigidity not found in any other turntables.

In our listening tests we found them to offer a very dimensional soundstage, exceptionally fast transient response, with great rhythmic timing and dynamics. Emulating the excitement experienced when going to a live performance.
